 October 1999 - Philips DVD peripheral range extended with the inclusion of the DVD-CTL.....
From the middle of October 1999 Designer Systems will be offering an additional product in it's range of Philips DVD-170 professional player RS232 peripherals.
The DVD-CTL External Control Processor provides the control of up to four (4) external mains (240V AC 6Amps) devices, such as lamps, motors, fans etc. from the DVD media inserted in the DVD-170 player. The processor uses chapter marks authored onto the DVD media to switch ON and OFF the individual control outputs, the switch ON chapter and switch OFF chapter being easily selectable from 1 to 10 with built-in switch selectors.
To complement the control outputs there are also four (4) Normally Open pushbutton switch inputs to allow selection of chapters 1 to 4 of track 1. These switch inputs can be wired to kiosk buttons or stimulus switches (e.g. door switches) to allow media activation or control.

July 1999 - Designer Systems becomes an approved Design Consultant for Microchip Technology.....
July saw the inclusion of Designer Systems in the Microchip Consultants Program, aimed at providing design consultants experienced in the application of Microchip microcontroller, non-volatile memory and security products.
Designer Systems have used Microchip products since the original release of the PIC16C54 microcontroller, having built-up over many years, a comprehensive library of standard routines for most of the PIC range.
We are committed to providing solutions based on Microchip parts wherever possible and will support the introduction of new products to complement the current range.

March 1999 - Cambridge Multimedia Ltd agrees distribution of Designer Systems RS232 peripherals for new Philips DVD-170 professional player.....
From early March Cambridge Multimedia Ltd, a major authorized distributor of Philips CD-i & DVD, has agreed to distribute a new range of RS232 DVD-170 peripherals designed & manufactured by Designer Systems.
